It’s the start of another year and as new beginnings often cause us to do, I’m reflecting. Both on what the last year held as well as looking forward to 2025 and wondering what it will bring. I certainly pivoted in 2024, hence this blog and working with women in a one-to-one capacity, which was new and exciting for me this past year.
Fresh starts often result in a lot of buzz about organizing, meal plans, workout schedules, journals, daily routines, dreams, and goals. I think all of these things are beneficial and worth your attention, especially if they work. And you already know how I feel about fresh journals, they’re awesome!
However, in spite of all of these tips and tricks for a new start in 2025, I keep going back to what my friend Jennifer always reminds me of when I’m spiraling with so many thoughts, ideas, and plans. What is my purpose? To love God and love others.
That’s it.
Love God and love others. Am I doing that well? In addition to all the other wonderful things He has allowed me to do in this life, am I still making these two things a priority?
We can start the year with our new plans and routines, but ultimately, we need Jesus. We need our relationship and our time spent with Him and in the Word to be the priority.
It is a simple concept, but it is not always easy. The distractions around us threaten to steal our time and attention away from The Lord so often. We have to be intentional. I will be the first to admit, I’m not always good at this.
It’s so tempting to jump head first into implementing all the things. A new year and a new start make this so easy. But in the middle of all the planning, let this be a friendly reminder that every good and perfect gift comes from above. Everything we’re able to do, from caring for our family to our bodies, and yes, even the ability to write in a new journal, is a reflection of His grace.
He is worthy to be praised.
Loving God and loving others begins with spending daily time in the Word. What are your favorite daily reading plans or resources for your time in the Word? My all-time favorite devotional is New Morning Mercies by Paul David Tripp. This year, I’m joining my friend Robyn and we are doing a 52-Week bible study called, Year in the Bible from Alabaster Co. Share yours below!
Blessings to you in the New Year, my friend!
